Rob Smith - Selected Tracks from His Upcoming Album, "Mutiny" Review by Doug Cornell A cool surf-esque bass line drives the mellow vibe of the track "He Man Woman Hater's Club." This track is absolutely drenched in cool guitar atmosphere. Rob Smith, who hails from Kitchner, Ontario, sings in a warm, clean way that isn't heard much in the recent garage/screamo releases so commonly found on the digital airwaves. "Hood" is a slightly-funky track that uses a speak-sing vocal style and some stylish horn fills in the style of the band Cake. A fairly insistent bass beat is overlaid with a flowing Spanish guitar solo. The track ends with a good dose of guitar jamming. Rob Smith possesses talent that is not all that common in the pop realm. I'd like to hear more. |
