PrÖsper - Our Own EP

Review by Doug Cornell

This four song EP from New Jersey three-piece outfit PrÖsper is refreshing and endearing.  The guys play with a devil-may-care attitude - the production is lean, instead focusing upon edgy electric guitar riffs and earnest vocals.    Put a producer in the recording studio with this band, and the result wouldn't be nearly as entertaining.

"Blonde Bombshell" begins with a throbbing bass line, and is quickly enveloped in electric guitars and percussion.  Urge Overkill is one reference that comes to mind while listening to this song.  The next track, "Our Own," features a slow, melodic guitar melody and emo-esque vocals.   Long, melodic passages of electric guitar echo shoe-gazing music of the last decade.  The up-tempo rocker "Cab Ride" is forged in true indie rock fashion, with chiming guitars and piles of raw energy.  The last track, "Our Own Instrumental," is a pleasant reprise of "Our Own," without the vocals.

PrÖsper is a young band with a lot of promise. Hopefully, they'll release a full album soon.
