Kava Kava - Maui

Review by Doug Cornell

Kava Kava exists for those who are truly seeking something different.  Instead of guitar drenched, angst filled punk or emo, this 4 piece outfit creates infectious, high-energy dance funk.

What sets Kava Kava apart from their peers is that where others may simply create beats and nonsense words, Kava Kava carefully constructs melody-driven music with fantastic, soulful singing.

Originally from Yorkshire, England, Kava Kava are a surprisingly fresh sounding band.  Their new album, Maui, is packed with 13 tracks, including the dance-floor stomper "Space People (A&Ralien)," the cool yet beautiful title track "Maui," and the workout room favorite, "Bankjob."   The drums are real, the synths are spicy, and the singing by Pat Fulgoni is perfect for this music.  Best of all, the band is wise enough to include subtle bursts of electric guitar.

Don't play this record unless you are ready to get your body moving.
